Sailing excursion in Corsica, Mouths of Bonifacio Park
The islands of wind, sun, and sea. But not only that. Cradle of civilizations and intertwining ancient histories have always exerted a magnetic appeal on sailors from distant lands. Only 10 miles (about 18 kilometers) separate La Maddalena from the Corsican islands. Unique emotions in sailing across the Straits of Bonifacio, cradled by the waves, in the ears only the caress of the wind. Sailing trip to Corsica: small lighthouses on remote islets, submerged wrecks, a natural paradise that skipper Luigi will enthusiastically introduce you to, Caribbean landscapes and colors. Sightings of dolphins, seabird colonies and endangered species are common in the Straits of Bonifacio. On the islands it is also possible to snorkel, surrounded by myriads of bream and sea bream, even under the boat. The rocks and inlets, the fine sand, the dazzlingly colored seabed, will remain in your heart, as will the historical and cultural aspects of these extraordinary archipelagos.
The most popular destinations are the famous Corsican islands of Cavallo and Lavezzi. Sailing to cross the Straits of Bonifacio-the stretch of sea that divides Sardinia from Corsica-is about 90 minutes:
Horse Island: exclusive paradise of VIPs and a select few. Fewer than 100 villas have been built on the island, perfectly integrated into the environment, many of them designed by the celebrated architect of the Emerald Coast, Jacques Couelle. In addition to the white sandy beach and crystal clear water, it will be possible to visit the remains of an ancient Roman villa. You will see the two most beautiful coves on the island, Cala di Zerri and Cala di Palma. In this cove, considered one of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean, you can take a long break, go down to the beautiful beach and swim in the crystal clear water. Lunch is provided on board out of the sun, relaxing in the comfortable cockpit.
Lavezzi Island: of extraordinary naturalistic value and astounding beauty, it will be remembered for the special shapes of the rocks and the turquoise waters rich in fish. From a historical point of view, the small cemetery on the island, in which the bodies of one of the most disastrous shipwrecks in history are buried, is worth a visit: in 1855, more than 750 men embarked on the ship Semillante, bound for Crimea, lost their lives. You will visit the two most fascinating coves on the island, Cala Lazzarina and Cala di Giunco, where you can swim as if in an aquarium. And, if you wish, you can take a walk to the beautiful lighthouse, adjacent to the beach.
In high demand, but only in favorable marine weather conditions, is the more distant Isola Piana: The stretch of sea that separates it from neighboring Corsica is considered one of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean, so much so that it looks like a Polynesian lagoon with crystal-clear waters in all shades of turquoise. Astrip of soft, off-white sand in the shape of an arch, covered by only a foot of water, creates a transition between the Piana Island and the mother island. You can disembark and stroll through the turquoise by walking to both shores.
