Spargi Island<\/h2>\n\n

The island of Spargi is the third largest island in the La Maddalena Archipelago, located off the northeast coast of Sardinia. This archipelago consists of seven main islands and numerous smaller islets: La Maddalena, Caprera, Spargi, Santo Stefano, Budelli, Santa Maria, Razzoli.<\/p>\n\n

Along the coasts of the granite nature island of Spargi, one can admire numerous coves with the whitest of white sands, dunes, and dazzling turquoise sea.<\/p>\n\n

The island has signs of human presence dating back to the early Neolithic period up to the Nuragic Age: at Cala Corsara<\/strong> , inside a tafone on the beach of Cala Corsara on Spargi, the archaeological materials found in the tafone right on the beach, particularly obsidian, testify to the island being inhabited and probably used as a stopover in navigation between the Bocche di Bonifacio, along the obsidian trade route.<\/p>\n\n

Due to its strategic position in the Mediterranean Sea, the island of Spargi was used for military purposes as early as the 19th century: there are numerous fortifications on the island. It was indeed used as a military base between the two world wars. <\/p>\n\n

However, over time, the area lost its military importance and became a major tourist attraction, appreciated for its natural beauty. The colors and scents of the island are stunning: the Mediterranean vegetation, dunes, and beaches characterize the island. <\/p>\n\n

What are the beaches of Spargi?<\/h2>\n\n

The island of Spargi is known for its crystalline waters and white sandy beaches. Its beaches are famous worldwide:<\/p>\n\n

Cala Corsara<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

Considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the entire archipelago, Cala Corsara is characterized by a long beach of white sand lapped by turquoise waters and protected by high rocky promontories. <\/p>\n\n

It is the ideal place for snorkeling and diving. At Cala Corsara, it is also possible to dive to discover the ancient wreck of a Roman cargo ship<\/a>, dating back to 110 BC. <\/p>\n\n

In 2016, Cala Corsara was judged “Italy’s most beautiful beach” by Tripadvisor, and in 2018, it was included in Forbes’ seven Italian beaches to visit. Famous are the granite rocks in the bay, the “Witch’s Head,” and the “Bulldog.”<\/p>\n\n

Cala Granara<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

Located on the northeast side of the island, this small beach is surrounded by cliffs and offers a quiet and intimate atmosphere, with lush vegetation that protects from the sun in the hottest hours. The crystalline waters are perfect for swimming and sunbathing.<\/p>\n\n

Cala Connari Beach<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

Hidden between cliffs and Mediterranean vegetation, this beach offers a wild and picturesque environment. Its waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling, and the surrounding landscape is perfect for hiking.<\/p>\n\n

Cala Ciaccaro or “Cala Soraya” Beach<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

With its whitest of white sand and wind-formed dunes reaching all the way to the beach, this beach is a paradise. The beach is called “Cala Soraya” because it is said that the former Queen of Persia Soraya Esfandiary, repudiated by her husband, frequented this beach on Spargi.<\/p>\n\n
